I can not find anywhere to set read receipts on my email.
I sent an e-mail with a read receipt but got a read receipt back from someone that I didn't send it to. Is it possible for someone to have forwarded the e-mail, without reading it and the receipt was from the new recipient?
Yes, of course. A person could even read an email, but didn’t send a read receipt (it can be configured in Outlook Options).
Thanks for your clear instructions. However, although the box "Automatically update original sent item with receipt information" (in "OUTLOOK OPTIONS")is ticked, the "read receipt" is not attaching to the "sent message". Also, neither the "SHOW" icon nor the "Tracking" icon is shown on the Message bar. Hope you can assist. Cheers G
Hello,
Is it possible to request a read receipt only from the main recipient and not from the 'CC' and 'BCC'?
I need to find out how to only receive a read receipt from the main recipient and not my work colleagues that i have cc or bcc for their information. It really annoys them and I don't blame them. I would appreciate a response as I see I am not the only one with this Q.
Ruth
Hello Ruth,
Unfortunately, we don't know the way to solve this task. Please look for the solution on http://answers.microsoft.com.
I have several individuals at work that choose to not send a read receipt. Because I send emails to everyone in my group, and all need to read them, I noticed at first that I never received confirmation of the "read" from one person. I mentioned this to him, and now, 3 of the 5 in my group refuse to allow the read receipt to be sent. The rebels that refuse (mostly to annoy me and cause me to ask if they have received an email, thereby wasting my time)are wasting my time. Is there a way that they cannot read the email without accepting and sending a read receipt? My coworkers find it amusing that I send the read receipts. I have used "read receipts" as discovery in tax law suits, that is why I ALWAYS have it turned on. I have one folder with nothing but the read receipts. It's amazing how handy they come in!
How do you can show respect to the receiver of you e mail?

Hello,
Is there any way to get a read receipt for for a calendar invite? I know there is the option to have them "Accept" "Decline" or "Propose New Time" but I was hoping there would be a way to see if they, at the very least, saw the invite and did not respond. Let me know if it is possible.
Thanks,
Ryan
Per my previous today reply question on where the delivery receipts show up I meant to ask how the receipts can be made to show up on the Inbox reading pane where the incoming e-mails show up? This is where they show up in Outlook 2003 and Outlook 2010 ??
Thanks
Gary

Is there a way to send the read receipt and have the recipient not know about it, but the sender gets the receipt that his email was read?
thank you alot
I run a project in which my associates want to know that I got their input. Before Windows 8 and Outlook 2013 it was easy. Now I cannot seem to find the way forward. Thanks in advance.
This article explains how to get the email read receipt and delivery receipt in Outlook 2013. Does none of the described methods work for you?
Wow, this article is great
Thank you Ekaterina
We just noticed that if employee's have a reading pane in Outlook, it will never send a read receipt back. How do you get around that as I don't know who all use the reading pane on the right hand side.
Hi Ekaterina,
Thanks for your wonderful blog, it is such an eye opener.
I would like to know how to set a read receipt in such a way that when a recipient reads mail you get a notification with their signature. (A blank email with the receipient signature.)
Can I get the Delivery Receipts from a mapped email alias. When I send an email on behalf of another email alias, the receipts do not show up.
Hello, Rene,
I am not sure if it is possible to get delivery receipts when sending a message on behalf of another email alias. Please turn to Microsoft support service for assistance or post your question to the Microsoft Community.
Is there a way I can see if i sent a read receipt or not? I get a lot of emails with read receipts through work. I like to think I always press yes to the read receipt request, but occasionally colleagues claim I have not sent a read receipt.
Thanks in advance,
Matt
How do you turn off the "do not ask me again option, so I can send the response manually?
Thanks
Great info, but I just want to confirm - can I set up a rule or similar that will just show that the mail was opened, without asking for a read receipt?
Hello Vince,
Sorry, we cannot suggest any way other than described here:
https://www.ablebits.com/office-addins-blog/outlook-delivery-read-confirmation/#read-confrimation-rule
When request for read receipt is in a "rule" similar to your suggestion, the tracking icon does not appear on the sent email. It seems to only appear if you also manually click the request read checkbox. Despite this, I do receive receive read receipts "based on the rule", however they only show up in the inbox and are not "attached" or viewable from the original sent email itself. Am I missing something?
Thank you for the great article. I have a question though. What does "your message has been successfully relayed to the recipients, but the requested delivery status notifications may not be generated by the destination" mean. Is such a delivery notification proof of delivery?
Hello,
Thank you for your feedback.
The notification says that your message reached the recipient's email server, but the receiver hasn't got it in Outlook yet. An email is always automatically sent to the recipient from the server and in 99 % of cases they get the email.
This does not apply to my Outlook email account, it is a newer account but my outlook account does not have that layout nor does it have any of those options. Can someone please help me out ?
As others have noted, your article is far more comprehensive than any others I have found on the internet. Thanks! If it wasn't for people like you, most Microsoft users would be left in the dark, since their 'help' is almost never helpful. Thanks again.
Is there any way to get a delivery or read receipt on a single reply? Tags doesn't have anything.
Thanks,
Eric
Hello, Eric,
Thank you for your question. To track a single email, please tick the ‘Request a Delivery Receipt’ and ‘Request a Read Receipt’ boxes in the Tracking group on the OPTIONS tab. If you don't get the email read notification, most likely the recipient chooses not to send it or their Outlook is adjusted never to send read receipts.
Does the receiver know that i know whether or not he reads it?
Thank you for the question, Selam.
Every time you ask for a read receipt, the recipient can choose to send it or not. If you get the email read confirmation, it means that the recipient opened your email. If you don't get the notification, most likely the addressee has chosen not to send it or hasn't opened the message yet. In both cases the recipient knows that you want to know if he reads your email or not.
This more eloborate and detailed than any tutorial available in internet.
Starting with a "Read Receipt" for a single mail, then to all mails and then how to direct all receipt to directory.
The Flow of the article is so arranged, clean and easy to understand. Thanks for the article. It also helped me to know how to write nice articles.
Thank you so much for your kind words. I appreciate your feedback.
Thanks for this complete information, it was too useful for me.
Thanks for your feedback, Sayed.
I am glad to know that you found my article useful.
